Sights you mustn’t miss

Every visitor to Houston, Texas should include a visit to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. This is the home of NASA and the astronaut’s, and will excite both young and old alike. Where else can you actually experience zero gravity, or learn what life in space is truly like.
A visit to the Houston Zoo which by the way, is one of the top ten visited zoos in the U.S. will put you in front of close to 5000 animals, and many opportunities for “hands on” experiences. If you plan ahead, you can sign up to shadow a member of the staff, and maybe feed a lion cub.

Fun things to do

Spend an exciting fun filled day at the Kemah Boardwalk, Houston’s newest amusement park. And while your there, maybe plan dinner in the evening at one of the un-expected fine restaurants, including Saltgrass Steakhouse and Landry’s Seafood.
Bayou Place, located in the Downtown Theater section of town is someplace to spend an entire day. From it’s restaurants, bars, shopping or a movie and dinner at the Houston Hard Rock Café.
If the weather is warm you might want to visit Houston’s waterpark, Splashtown. From its waterslides, wave pool to a pirate ship for the youngsters, this is your place to be “cool”.

Wine and Dine Tips

As the story goes in larger cities, especially those with a colorful history like Houston, there are many dining options. Its always a great way to get recommendations from locals, but here are a few suggestions from diners as well as locals.

Hugo’s Mexican Restaurant is one excellent choice, offering a cuisine that includes the ability to order your choice paired with wine or Tequila.
You’re in Texas, the land of Barbeque, so ribs, chicken and brisket should be begging for your appetite. Some of the more famous and local favorites are Corkscrew, Gatlin’s or Brooks Place. All three will bring to your table Texas Barbeque representing the best experience in taste, as well as decorating your shirt and mustache. Dress accordingly.

Day Trips

A great day trip from Houston is a day spent in Galveston on the waterfront. Here you get to visit onboard the Tallship Elissa, from 1877. Another exciting visit is the USS Cavalla in Seawolf Park, a submarine from WWII as well as the U.S.S. Stewart, a Navy Destroyer.
You can also plan a trip for a visit to the George “HW” Bush Presidential Library in College Station.
