Quite possibly, the reason it became so famous is by being names the “Hot Springs Capitol of the Philippines”. One of the main attractions to this town, is relaxation, slow paced, spas and hot soaking will rejuvenate, relax and renew.

When to Visit Based on Price

There really isn’t a low or high season, so rates should be competitive between the resort hotels all year long. You might find lower rates between June and September due to the fact it’s the heavy rain season.

Low Season: June through September is less busy. Average Daily Rates of:

  • 2 Star: $25 - $58
  • 3 Star: $25 - $100
  • 4 Star: $65 - $190
High Season: October through May offers the best weather, and destination for families. Average Daily Rates of:
  • 2 Star: $25 - $59
  • 3 Star: $28 - $100
  • 4 Star: $65 - $250
Magic Savings Tip: There is good public transportation between towns, including Manila, so renting a car might be an expense not necessary.

Sights you mustn’t miss

Visit the Giant Clay Pot, climb to its top and have your photo taken.
Visit the historic homestead of the Philippine National Hero, RIZAL.

Fun things to do

Quite possibly the most fun thing to do in Calamba will be right at your hotel/resort, its hot springs and their therapeutic effects on your body.
There really isn’t much nightlife out of your resort hotel, with the exception of Venue, a “nightclub” offering cocktails, bar food, and Disco. This is a fun experience, but not really somewhere to spend a great deal of time.
If missing the U.S. and greasy cheeseburgers, there actually is a Burger King in town.

Wine and Dine Tips

You shouldn’t visit Calamba without dining at Dinghao Chinese Cuisine, one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in the Laguna Province. A favorite of locals and visitors as well, for the exotic Cantonese dishes served there.
Another favorite is Ding Hao, home of The Original and Best Bulalo, or Beef Shank Soup.

Day Trips

The hour trip to Manila would be well worth your time as it is a major city, with much to offer tourists. For those looking for bargain shopping, a visit to the Mall of Asia is a must. This mall is one of the largest in the world, and you will find spectacular discounts on top designer name items here. If traveling with youngsters, there is an IMAX Theater and an indoor Olympic size ice skating rink.
Visit the Manila Hotel, where US General Douglas McArthur resided for six years. The hotel has kept its old world charm, and is host to many celebrations all year long.
A visit to Pagsanjan River for a canoe ride down the rapids is very popular and well worth the trip just out of town. An interesting fact is that many scenes from the movie “Apocalypse Now” were filmed here and if you saw the movie you will recognize them.
