Sights you mustn’t miss and Fun Things to do

Face the facts that if you're visiting Anaheim, you're probably here to visit the attractions which are not only sights to see and experience but also a whole bunch of fun. Everyone, well almost everyone on this earth has heard of Disneyland, and dreams of visiting Mickey and Minney, Goofy and the gang and little girl's dream of becoming Cinderella and living in a castle. So it’s no wonder that anyone visiting Anaheim would plan to visit the Magic Kingdom. Fun for both young and old, it’s just a “need to visit”.
A close second would be a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood. It is close enough to visit and can take up an entire day or more. With live shows, special effects, rides, carnival and live characters walking about, it’s so much fun. And on site there are many excellent food choices.
Take a tour in L.A. by foot, bike, Segway, limo or double decker bus if weather is suited. There are tours of movie star homes, food tours, crime tours, and even ghost tours.

Wine and Dine Tips

You might as well accept that your day and sometimes evening dining will occur in one of the attractions you visit. You can also expect that with a family, it won’t be cheap either. There are some options within Anaheim, not in attractions where you can eat with the kiddies and not totally deplete your card.
One suggestion is the Cheesecake Factory, serving American cuisine, lots of choices, including great sandwiches, and fair prices. For Mom & Dad, yes there are cocktails for desert, after that long day of lines in Disneyland.
Islands Restaurant is another great place to take the family, with a Caribbean theme, salads, sandwiches and seafood. Moderate prices make it a savings.
For a few dollars more, well, quite a few, you and your spouse can enjoy a fine dining experience in a restaurant like Roy’s on Katella Avenue, serving Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, or perhaps it’s French your itching for, then The Cellar on Fullerton Blvd. could please your palate and as a bonus, provide romance to your evening. With it’s European Cuisine and designed by the artistic craftsman from Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean, you will expect Captain Jack Sparrow to walk by your table at any time.

Day Trips

Take a day trip down to San Diego and experience the waterfront area boardwalk, and maybe a tour of the U.S.S. Midway, the historic aircraft carrier museum tied to the dock. Spend the day visiting the World Famous San Diego Zoo, and meet a Giant Panda and its baby. Enjoy one of the hundreds of fine restaurants in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter downtown.
Take a ride up to Hollywood and walk the boulevard, do some shopping, and visit the famous avenue of the stars, where you can search for your favorite celebrities foot or handprint.

Do Disneyland the smart way!

It won't look fashionable and the kids will cringe, but surviving Disneyland is just a matter of thinking ahead... and looking like a goose. Check Cheaprooms.com for quality hotels to choose from close to Disneyland. The discount rooms in Anaheim always go fast, no matter what time of year, so be quick. Our first tip is stay on the trolley line and catch the shuttle bus to and from the park each day. Catch a shuttle from the airport, rather than hiring a car. You'll find a good deal on Cheap Rooms with plenty of extras and options. There's something about a visit to Disneyland that draws everyone in. But, forewarned is forearmed! Read these tips and survive to play another day. Our second tip is to stay comfortable on your long days around the park by carrying as little as possible. Put money and cards in a small fanny pack and carry a small refillable water bottle so that you don't need a big backpack. These aren't convenient when jumping on and off the rides and just get tiring towards the end of the day. Use a Lanyard to carry your tickets and Fastpasses - it may look uncool and your kids will disown you but it has two advantages; it keeps them all in one place so that you're not forever ferreting in pockets to find the relevant Fastpass, and second, you won't lose that precious and oh so expensive multi-day ticket. The Beatles: nostalgia is what it used to be...

A quick guide to Anaheim

You'll be surprised at much really waits for you at Disneyland! But make sure you also enjoy surrounding Anaheim too, if you've come from afar. We'll help you find a great place to stay so you can well and truly discover this magical kingdom - and do it within your budget. Your quick guide starts with some advice - purchase your Park Hopper tickets (or regular, single park admission ticket) online and you'll avoid the often long queues at the park itself. This means you just head straight in. Get an early start and spend the morning at the original Disneyland Park then head across the esplanade to the recently refurbished Disney California Adventure Park. You'll love this side of the resort. Make sure to pick up your Radiator Springs Racers and World of Color FastPass early - they run out quickly and they really are the ideal way to see the parks without the stress of queuing endlessly. Particularly if you have small children. Just across the Orange County line is Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and this is a great place for children. They'll love all the sea critters and you can bring a picnic to enjoy inside, or take a break at one of the dozens of places in the nearby Shoreline Village. Anaheim is very close to world-famous Huntingdon Beach where southern California and Surf City USA made its name! Get a surf lesson or just walk the pier and watch how they do it LA style. Take in Newport Beach too where Balboa Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula is a Newport Beach nook featuring quaint shops and ice cream stands.

All things Anaheim

Of course Anaheim is all about the theme parks - and it truly is a wonderful family trip. But Anaheim has plenty of other attractions too. Check Cheaprooms.com first of all and find a room in Anaheim and enjoy all things Anaheim! Disneyland is Anaheim's great claim to fame. A visit here will be enjoyed by everyone in the family - but it's expensive and if you just need a break, what else is there to do in Anaheim? Find cheap accommodation in Anaheim and open up your options. If the forecast is for a hot California day, try Knott's Soak City in Buena Park. It's a water park with some exciting rides and a great outdoor fun area. It's open during summer only. Do the children like all things Medieval? Then take them to Medieval Times in Buena Park. The food is not bad but the most fun is in the kids getting dressed and watching the horses. Who doesn't love bowling? Take the family to 300 Anaheim Bowling Center in the Anaheim Garden Walk at the Shoppertainment mall, just east of Disneyland. Perfect when you just need some theme park downtime. The Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana is on a public bus route (OCTA Route 83 South or ART Route 19) and you can let the kids roam free - it's a hands-on interactive attraction. Close to the Discovery Science Center is the Bowers Kidseum, also in Santa Ana. It goes out of its way to make how our world works fun for kids so that they understand it better.

Teenagers and Anaheim...

Teenagers are just way too cool for those 'baby' rides at Disneyland... so how will you put a smile on their face on your trip of a lifetime to Anaheim? Check Cheaprooms.com first of all and get yourself a 'teen cool' room in Anaheim that's cheap and will pass teen muster. Don't be too concerned - there's actually a lot for teenagers to be excited at in Disneyland and California. Find cheap accommodation in Anaheim and the rest will take care of itself. The real secret is to scare the living daylights out of them. And what better place to do it than Space Mountain at Disneyland. It's a roller coaster - so slightly scary anyway, but Space Mountain lifts the ante by doing it in the dark. We dare them not to scream. The California Screamin' coaster in Disneyland is the biggest in the park. This is one super fast start, on a smooth track that hooks some great air, speedy turns, and then the upside down loop which makes for a really great and fun thrill. Fast Pass and Rider Switch area available and are highly recommended. The Grizzly River Run is wet. Let's not mince words. You'll get a good soaking on this ride as it takes you up, down and over a recreated California mountain. It's a fun, thrilling, white water ride. So your kids aren't afraid of heights huh? Oh yeah, challenge accepted. Take them on the deceptively mild sounding Mickey's Fun Wheel and make sure you push them on to the second option where the carts swing. They'll feel like they're launching themselves into oblivion.

What to do and see in Anaheim

The excitement and open-eyed wonder that every visitor to Anaheim experiences hasn't dimmed over the years since Walt Disney first put a shovel into the ground. Go to Cheaprooms.com and get yourself to Anaheim with a cheap hotel packageto suit your budget and group size needs. Here's where you'll find Main Street USA, Tomorrowland, Toontown and more. It's a mostly outdoors experience so check the weather forecast for Anaheim before you come so you know what you're in for. Find somecheap accommodation in Anaheim and get ready to enjoy the great outdoors, Disney-style. The original Disneyland was opened by Walt Disney in 1955 and has entertained millions of people since. This is where you'll find Mickey, Goofy, Snow White and dozens of adventurous rides, towering slides and seemingly endless entertainment. Next door to Disneyland is the California Adventure part of the park and it's included in the entry price to Disneyland. The park celebrates the California experience with three themed lands - the Golden State, Paradise Pier and Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Did you know the original Knot's Berry Farm was indeed a... berry farm in the early part of the 20th century. This theme park is dedicated to thrillseekers everywhere with bigger, badder, steeper, faster rides than the other theme park in the general area. Anaheim's Angel A stadium is a real treat for anyone who loves the great game of baseball. Strike the season right and you'll catch a game in the recently renovated stadium. Sumptuous gastronomic heaven it may not be, but the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament at the 11-century re-creation of an imposing Spanish Castle is an exciting exercise in pageantry and rousing good times.
